When applying be sure to bring:
- A completed Learner's Permit Application
- A signed parental consent form
- Verification of address
- A recent passport-size photo without sunglasses or a head covering
- A certified birth certificate as well as one other form of proper ID
- Your Social Security card, or
a letter from the Social Security Administration stating that you are ineligible for a number - Cash, check or money order to pay a $40 test fee and an $18 permit fee
(if paying by check you'll need two separate checks)
Permit Restrictions: When driving during the first three months of holding your permit you cannot be accompanied by anyone other than:
- A licensed instructor
- Your parents or legal guardian, one of whom has a driver's license
- Anyone 20 or older who has held a license for at least four years and has not had his or her license suspended during this time
Connecticut Driver's Education Requirements: Anyone younger than 18 applying for a driver's license is required to show proof that he or she has completed a state-approved driver's education course or has received home-based driver's education training. A teen driver who has taken a state-approved course gets a break on the minimum time requirement before taking a road exam: 120 days, versus 180 days for teen drivers certified under home-education requirements. Teens older than 18 are not required to obtain a learner's permit. They may receive driver training from a licensed driver older than 20 who has held a license for four consecutive years. They are not required to take any official driver's education and they do not need parental permission. Otherwise, the process is identical to that for other teens.

Admission: Quinebaug Valley Community College maintains an open admission policy, extending the opportunity for higher education to all who want to prepare more fully for effective participation in modern society. Students must be graduates of an approved secondary school or hold a state high school equivalency diploma (GED). Prospective students who are not high school graduates and have not yet earned a state high school equivalency diploma must meet ability to benefit guidelines. Students who have been home-schooled will be accepted, with verification by parents. Verification forms may be obtained through the Division of Learning & Student Development Office. Contact the Learning and Student Development Office for more information.
Admission to some programs at the College may require a personal interview and/or special academic background. Acceptance to the College does not constitute acceptance into these specialized programs.
Application Procedures: Students interested in Quinebaug Valley Community College are encouraged to complete the process as early as possible before the beginning of their intended semester and prior to registration.
Applications are available upon request from QVCC and from the guidance offices at high schools in the region, as well as online. Call (860) 412-7200 or write to the QVCC Admissions Office, 742 Upper Maple Street, Danielson, CT 06239 or download the form from the College website. A $20.00 non-refundable application fee must accompany the completed application form.
High school seniors should take the completed application and fee to their guidance office to be mailed to the College along with a copy of their high school transcript.
Applicants who have already graduated from high school must request official transcripts from their high school or attach a copy of their high school diploma to the application. Applicants who obtained a high school equivalency certificate (GED) should attach a copy of their scores, if available.
Transfer applicants: Applicants who have attended other regionally accredited colleges must request official transcripts, with any change of student’s name noted, from each institution attended. Transcripts should be sent directly to the College. Upon receipt of official transcripts, courses will be evaluated for applicable credits.

The Learning Clinic, Inc. is accredited by The New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), with diploma granting privileges. TLC is a member of the National Association of Private Special Education Centers, licensed by the Connecticut Department of Children and Families, and approved by the Department of Education of Connecticut, California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and New York (interim placement).
